a few quick sketchbook pages from last month

I don't have a name for this yet, but it's a sketch for a personal digital storage system, with proximity aware modules. Battery powered hard drives/flash drives with functions manipulated by arranging multiple drives in physical space. Modules can sync, combine, upload, backup, etc. This is a work in progress.

sketchercise – generator

20 minute digital sketch of an electric power generator. I recorded the process as a video, but the targeted was shifted so part is off camera. Try again!

Photo-0324Sometimes I do feel like I’m in the basement.  Positive thought:  when  starting at the bottom or in the back, there is only one way to go: up.  Starting in the front, one can only stay in place or move back.  I think it speaks for itself.

Nice image from a friend.

Thanks Brodie!

going up!

June Sketchercise

Pockets Progress

the Pockets project has it's own page now, last time I did anything was November (before I started the.Brief project) go to the projects page or click here

I’ve changed over my blog to run on wordpress.  I felt a little constrained by Silverstripe, which is still a great platform as a CMS but not a blogging tool.  The kajillions of plugins for WP attracted me too.  Hopefully, this is a step in the right direction.  Thanks for visiting, let me know what you think!

Now using wordpress

T4 Rally Trucks

the.brief DVD

I was invited to participate in this little project over the winter. Yes, that is my work featured in the teaser :)

the.brief.dvd is a new approach to showing how products are created. Four professional Industrial Designers were given the same Design Brief asking them to design a single cup coffee maker. All four Designers were videotaped as they worked, showing how they come up with their ideas and begin to realize them as a final product.

the.brief.dvd is not your typical “how-to” DVD. All four Designer’s work has been sped up and then put to cool unique music by the band “Lips and Ribs”. the.brief.dvd isn’t trying to “sit down and show you how to design”. the.brief.dvd has been created to teach, inspire, and provide a unique way of understanding how professional Designers work.
